Oxidized Bitumen 150/5
General Description
R95/25 is a low oxidized bitumen grade. It is based on pure penetration bitumen, 60/70 grade. In the production procedure penetration bitumen, 60/70 is aerated with very hot air.
This operation is done under careful supervision and control to obtain bitumen that has the required specifications. Blown bitumen specifications are tested with the ASTM methods. It is an international test method. Two of the most obvious characteristics of bitumen, softening point (°C) and needle penetration degree (desi millimeter), are assessed with two tests ASTM D36 and ASTM D5, respectively.
Technical Properties : Oxidized Bitumen 150/5
Oxidized bitumen or blown bitumen 95/25 is known by two properties: softening point and needle penetration that are 95 °C and 25 desi-millimeter, respectively. Moreover, it has some advantages like durability, flexibility, water-resistance and more chemical stability.
Applications : Oxidized Bitumen 150/5
PUB-LTD manufactured Oxidized Bitumen 95/25 (or Blown Bitumen 95/25) is used in numerous industrial applications and operations. It has more rubber property than the other grades because of the special characteristics it gains during the oxidation procedure. It is used in the production of special paints, civil engineering, building and road construction, for roofing, coating, flooring, as an anti-slip layer component, undercarriage sealant in the cars in the automotive industry, in the piling industry, electrical operations, for cable coating, oil and gas pipelines coating, crack sealing, in the road repair operations, for the production of pulp papers, bituminous products and textile, as a joint filling compound and sound-reducing agent, for dust proofing, waterproofing, the production of roofing felts, lacquers, varnishes, pavements and as a fuel component. Also, it’s used as raw material for the production of adhesives, insulation materials, bitumen membrane isolation sheet, in the chemical industry, for the production of special bitumen-based paints and pigments to protect metal structures from corrosion, and in the hydraulic applications and operations. It’s used as an additive in Portland cement pavements, as a base for synthetic turf, and for rubber and plastic production.
Handling/Storage : Oxidized Bitumen 150/5
Heating bitumen for the most final uses is a critical stage. Generally, the most important aspect in this procedure is heat control. Temperature and heat control can affect various characteristics of the product, including its quality. The safe and recommended maximum temperature is 230℃. All oxidized bitumen is risk-free at below 100℃ during shipping operations. Heating and heat transfer should be controlled. Improper heat transfer may cause overheating and release low flash vapors and these unwanted side products have a higher fire risk. Also, melted bitumen should not be left in the boiler to cool down. Because it can cause overheating and requires more positional energy. Furthermore, proper placement and installing of the temperature and pressure monitoring and control devices is very important. Because if their placement is not right, thermometers can’t display the real temperature, which can lead to poor monitoring and thermal conductivity.
