General Description

Oxidized Bitumen 85/25 (Blown Bitumen 85/25) is a semi-solid and midrange grade of this category. Oxidized Bitumen R85/25 manufacturing is done by air blowing a soft type of bitumen, namely Penetration Bitumen 60/70. This grade of penetration bitumen is the base and raw material for most bituminous products. The procedure under controlled conditions gives bitumen its more elastic properties compared to other types of bitumen. The rubber-like property makes bitumen suitable to use in various industries and applications like construction, sealing, coating, road construction, etc.

Blown Bitumen R85/25 tests are based on the test methods of ASTM international standards; its softening point and needle penetration are equal to 85℃ (based on ASTM D36) and 25 desi-millimeter (based on ASTM D5), respectively.

Blown Bitumen 85/25 (Oxidized Bitumen R85/25) is used in numerous industries and applications. It is used in civil engineering, roofing, coating, flooring, dust-binders, road-construction, road sealing and repair, crack sealing, production of adhesives, special paints and pulp paper. Also, it is used in textile production, combined with fuel, rubber, and plastic products, production of bitumen-based paints and pigments, paving and pavements, noise proofing agents and coating to prevent metal structures from corrosion, as an additive in pavements made of Portland cement. Moreover, this category of bitumen is used in essential industries like oil and gas, in automotive industry as a coating component and undercarriage sealant.

Handling/Storage : Oxidized Bitumen 85/25

Melted Bitumen R85/25 must be under controlled temperature conditions because heat controlling is of essential importance in this procedure. Heated bitumen should not be allowed to cool downl in the boiler and to be reheated because this action requires a lot of potential energy and this may cause a kind of energy impact on the system. In order to obtain appropriate heat transfer through the procedure requires a large surface area; without this setting, heating can cause imperfect heat transfer and lead to waste of time and energy and moreover, low product quality. Because with heat control, we can produce high-quality bitumen with some technical features like high durability, high flexibility, water-resistance, more chemical stability, high penetration index, solid form in ambient temperature (room temperature).
